1st Trick or Treat

Levi fit in to the cute astronaut costume given to us by Mimi Crandall. I wasn't sure how he would do in it as he isn't a big fan of things on his head some days but he loved it!

We went to a local nursing home that was passing out candy and visited with the residents while trick or treating.

Then we went over to our neighbors homes to say hello and trick or treat. Now when he sees the lights on he says "Trick or treat?"

I dressed up as "Mars" to walk around the nursing home with Levi. You can see my tape with writing on my belly if you click on the photo or just squint. :)

We went on a trip to Hot Springs, SD the other weekend for Presbytery and I have a lot of photos so I figured I would post a few here and then do another post. It was the day of our 1st snow of the season and was cold but Levi, a friend from church and I enjoyed a walk to see the hot springs flowing and falling in downtown. All through the winter the water is still warm. It was really nice.

Another thing I did recently was help a group of ladies (2 from my church and several from a nearby community) sew some dresses for "Little Dresses for Africa". Levi played happily without throwing pins, thread or touching the sewing machines most of the day. We were glad to get out of the house as the men were working all day in our house replacing windows and using power tools. (More on the windows in another post. )

Summer Iowa Visit & New Hair

Fun with Mimi and Papa.

Papa taught Levi how to sweep.

Here is my new hair cut after donating 11+inches to Locks of Love. Its a big change but I like it.
Sadie and Violet are playing peacock.
Ezra being all boy.
Levi had a great time with the cousins. Here Papa and Sadie are painting a mail box.
Can you find Mimi in the 1st picture below? Fun with the weather balloon.

Thanks Jan, for the amazing help with the reupholster project! The photo on the left is the original fabric that the free chair came with. The one on the right is the finished project in the living room. Below is the accent pillows she made to add to the look. I love it!

Fun in February

I made Levi a little dino sock puppet. I love how it turned out!
Levi was giggling at my kermit-the-frog sounding "dino" voice. Here are two more scarfs I made for friends.

Andrew taught Levi how to play the penny whistle this week.
Here is Levi walking around. He has been walking here and there since his 1st birthday but now he is on the move constantly.

Recent Craftiness

These are cards I made for mom for Christmas.

This is a 1st birthday card I made for a friend of Levi's. I am not sure if I already posted it.
This is his friend wearing the winter headband I made for her.
Here is a scarf I made from a plain flat scarf. I needed a gift for a mops gift exchange.

New Truck

I found this idea on a blog called Make It and Love It and decided to make Levi a felt truck. It didn't turn out as perfect as the blogger's but I just used scraps. Levi likes it.

Garden Varieties

Here are 2 pictures I took while we were driving back from Iowa the other week. Don't the clouds look ominous?
Here are my first tomatoes!
Here are a sampling of some flowers from my garden:

My latest achievement: sewing with elastic thread. Success!
By the way, I posted a blog before Andrew's anniversary video that many of you may have missed.

Boy Shorts

I have been attempting to better my sewing skills so that I can make some of my own. Here is my first try at making infant boy shorts. I started with two cloth napkins of this size and a pair of Levi's shorts as a model.
Here is the finished product! I consider it a success!

Nice Weather!

This is the first day Levi and I wore shorts! It has been unusually cool until today! It's 73 degrees right now and it is 7:30 pm! We are VERY ready for this nice weather!
This is my first ever bouquet of flowers for my very first Mother's Day! The Senior High youth had it delivered to our house. It was such a surprise!
I have been practicing my sewing skills more lately. I have been trying to find boy things to sew, but haven't found much so I made this baby girl shirt/dress and needed a model to make sure it fit so once again Levi came through for me :) Andrew commented that even in girl clothes Levi looks like a boy. I agree.
