Food and Fun

Here are some hats I found for Levi at Goodwill. The beanie is for Spring and the rest I needed for summer because he has a head that has outgrown most of his other hats. One was brand new and all were $0.50 a piece.
This is Pastor Marc Anderson with his daughter Vera. Marc and his wife came over for dinner last Thursday. We all had a great time.
Over the weekend, Andrew took the youth to Pierre for a statewide youth conference. I made these Ninja bandannas with Andrew before he left. It was part of his group theme. ("Warriors for the Lord", and our own addition, "Pray for Japan!")
Here is a photo montage of Levi attempting to feed himself:
(1) "Let me just feed myself with this spoon."
(2) "Spoon feeding = too slow!"
(3) "No one will notice if I just give Lucy the rest!"

(4) "See Momma, I don't need a spoon!"
(5) "I think I have this down. Open mouth, insert plate."

WOOOOOO HOOOOO We Beat Duke!!!

I am THRILLED that March Madness is free online! I get to watch my Cats play in the Elite 8!!!
With an emphasis on the:

GO WILDCATS!!!!!!!!!! BEAR DOWN ARIZONA!!!! In the above picture, the red and blue bar graph says it all! Zona rocked the pants off of Duke the 2nd half!

6 Months!

I am a few days behind, but here is Levi's 6 month picture. I cannot believe he is already been in this world for 1/2 a year! He weighs 17 lb. 4 oz., 17 3/4 inch head circumference, 26 1/2" long. (I guess the last nurse measured him wrong. This time the Dr. measured his length.)
A sampling of my craft fair projects: magnets (sold all of them!)
Onsies (some boy ones and some girl)
Spring knitted headbands
My favorite flower on a headband, made from wired ribbon left over from our wedding!
More Taggie balls (including my new taggie football)

Signs of Spring

I found the day lillies coming up in our front yard. It is about time I saw some hope for spring!

"I love Daddy time!"
Happy elf.
I have been working on some items to sell at a craft sale. Here is one of them. I needed a baby head to try them on... sorry Levi!

My Soup Recipe

Alissa’s Potato & Broccoli Soup
(I invented this in an attempt to make a healthier soup than similar alternatives.)
Servings: about 5

¼ cup All-Purpose flour
28 oz. low sodium fat-free chicken broth
3 cups cubed red potato (about 3 to 4 med. to large potatoes)
2 cups broccoli florets (I just got a bag of frozen florets)
1 small onion, diced
1 ¼ cups fat-free milk
½ tsp. salt (add more to taste if needed)
3 Tbsp. Reduced Fat Parmesan style grated topping (the kind you sprinkle over spaghetti) (add more to taste)
Dash of Mrs. Dash salt-free garlic and herb blend.

- Whisk together flour and 1 cup chicken broth until smooth.
- Combine remaining chicken broth and next 3 ingredients in a pot. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 8 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Cook, stirring often, 5 minutes. (or just mix all together and heat if your in a hurry.)
-add in remaining ingredients and use hand blender to make smooth and creamy. Enjoy.
*When reheating this, you may need to add a little milk to thin it out.

Miscellaneous photos of Levi

Levi's front two bottom teeth.
Levi's large feet.
Levi and Lucy napping in the sun.
A taste of baby apples on his fingers.
This picture makes it look like Levi is feeding himself. :)
Just plain cute.

P.K.'s

I feel blessed to have met two other pastor's wives in this town close to my age and with little ones close to Levi's age. This morning Vera and Levi had a play date as follows:
Vera: "Hey Levi, let's hold hands!"

Levi: "Eeewww, no way. You have cooties!" Kick

Vera: "Fine. How bout a competition in head holding." Levi: "But I am le tired"

Vera: "Ok. I will just suck on your head then."
The other pastor's wife I know had a little boy 2 months after Levi so we enjoyed some time pregnant together. This is their 2nd child so I agreed to watch David while Suri (1 1/2) got some x-rays. It was quite time consuming watching a then-3 month old and almost 5 month old. I give props to all moms of twins!
