Levi had his 4 month Dr. visit today. He is 15 lbs. 4 oz. 27 inches long. And she wants him to start on a little food now as she says he shouldn't still be nursing 3x a night. Tonight is the first night to test the rice cereal. Wish me luck :)
What? He shouldn't be nursing three times a night? In my experience babies nurse as much as they want to until you stop or are ready to start weaning. 3x a night sounds pretty normal to me. I would be cautious about taking that advice. It could seriously mess with your supply, or more importantly Levi needs...in which case you could end up with a very cranky baby. A little food couldn't hurt though. I mean, we would try to load Violet up (nursing and food) before bed so she wouldn't need to nurse so much at night. I hope I don't sound pushy...I just found after a couple babies, that whatever worked for our family, is what worked and kept everyone happy and we should just stick with it. So you should do what works best for you guys. Whether it be following her advice or not.
Oh, Andrew, I don't know about that word!! Levi is looking SO cute. I can't believe that he is TWICE as old now as when we saw him in November! How he must be changing. I think that I would probably vote with Sara and the Mops moms. We never recommended solids before 6 months at the soonest.
I always waited till at least 6 months for solids also. Also, I wouldn't stress over making him sleep through the night. I am pretty sure my 16 month old is nursing at least three times at night by I am sleeping through it so I am not sure : ). Lots of breast milk feeds brain development. You must be doing a great job with Levi. He looks happy and well fed. Nice work.

P.S. He gets cuter everyday!
That is what dr. suggested. Just feeding some right before bed to cut down on night feedings.
After talking to a bunch of MOPS mamas, I don't think we will really start anything right now. If he is willing to nurse, I am okay with that.
Happy mensiversary, Levi!
